Privacy Policy

DRAFT for legal review. This plain-language version describes how CollegeVerge handles data during the closed beta. It is not final and should be reviewed by counsel before public launch.

Who we are

CollegeVerge (the "Service") is a college decision and communication tool for students and their families. The Service is operated by CollegeVerge [legal entity to be finalized], based in Florida. You can reach us at jerry@goventus.com.

What we collect

Account details (name, email, password); your student profile (graduation year, school, GPA and test information you choose to enter, intended majors, activities); home city, state, and ZIP, used only to estimate distance to schools; date of birth, used to confirm age and parental-consent requirements; a parent or guardian email if you are under 18; any transcript or resume you choose to upload; the colleges on your list, your touchpoints, and notes; and basic product-usage data to operate and improve the Service.

Students under 18

The Service is not available to children under 13. If you are 13 to 17, a parent or guardian must approve your account before you can contact schools or coaches or share your materials. We email the parent or guardian you provide to obtain that approval and to offer them a read-only view of your progress.

How we use your information

We use your information to provide the Service: to score and organize your college list, generate your resume and letters, send messages you initiate, and keep parents informed through a read-only view and a weekly summary. We do not advertise to students, and we do not build advertising profiles. We never sell student data.

Education records and FERPA posture

We treat uploaded transcripts and similar education records as sensitive. They are encrypted at rest, accessed only through short-lived secure links, never indexed, and never used for analytics. CollegeVerge is not a school official and does not replace your school's systems.

Who we share it with

We use trusted service providers to run the Service (for example, hosting, database, payments, and email delivery). They process data only on our behalf and under contract. We share data with your linked parent or guardian as described above. We do not sell student data, ever.

How long we keep it

We retain your data while you use the Service and for one year afterward, then delete it. You can request an export or deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at jerry@goventus.com. If a student is over 13, a parent cannot delete the student's data without the student's involvement.

Your choices and state privacy laws

You can review and edit your profile in Settings, and request export or deletion at any time. We follow the stricter of applicable student-privacy laws, including Florida and California style protections: no advertising to students, no behavioral profiling beyond basic product analytics, and no sale of student data.

Security

We use row-level database security, encryption in transit and at rest, and least-privilege access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you of material incidents as required.

Changes and contact
